2025 Fall Sixes Registration Open
We are excited we finally have information on what Fall lacrosse will be in Ontario in 2025 and registration for a girls and boys Sixes season is now open!

Below is information for the season. Please review carefully before registering.

Sixes: This is a modified version of the box and field sport you may be familiar with. Unique features:
  • It takes place on a half field with five runners and a goalie.
  • Play is 4x Eight-Minute quarters (run-time)
  • Play is continuous, goalie starts with the ball immediately after a goal.
  • There is a 30 second shot clock like box lacrosse (with the exception of U9).
  • It is fast. Perhaps even faster than box.
  • Penalty Rules Boys: Contact penalties are much tighter and different than box and boys' field. Checking must be stick checks or body position. No cross checks (pushes), purposeful body checks or slashes to the arm. Expect this to be strictly enforced. There is also a penalty for dangerous shots where the ball or stick of the shooter makes contact with a defender.
  • Penalty Rules Girls: Rules closely match the existing rules for girls field lacrosse.
Equipment:
  • Helmet (Boys) / Goggles (Girls)
  • Gloves (Boys)
  • Mouthguard (Boys & Girls)
  • Shoulder pads (Boys)
  • Box lacrosse stick (Boys) / Women's field lacrosse stick (Girls)
  • Cleats recommended, especially at older ages and for play on grass-fields.
Teams: We will run as many teams where interest allows and coaches are available. We probably need 10 players (including a goalie) per team to be viable. There is a maximum allowed roster size of 15 (and a dressed game roster of 12). We can run multiple teams in each age group. Tryouts may be necessary where more players exist for one team in an age group.

We will open registration for boys teams U9-U22 and girls teams U9-U19. Age groups and birth years will be the same as the field / box seasons:
  • U9 (2017-2019)
  • U11 (2015-2016)
  • U13 (2013-2014)
  • U15 (2011-2012)
  • U17 (2009-2010)
  • U19 - Girls (2007-2008)
  • U22 - Boys (2004-2008)

When Are Games? Teams will have lots of flexibility to set games subject to opponent and field availability. They could be weekday evening games, weekend games, or "jamboree / tournament" style on weekends. There is a blackout period for games Labour Day and Thanksgiving weekends.

When Are Practices? Expect one or two one-hour practices on weekday evenings. Days, times and location TBD.

Season: Season will run from late-August to late-October. There will be a provincial championship held in Hamilton the weekend of October 25-26.

Provincials: Teams must participate in 10 games to qualify for Provincials. Teams in Provincials will be seeded according to rankings in "MyLax". It is not mandatory for a team to play 10 games and subsequently play in Provincials.

Registration Cost: $200 per player. *Note: Players with an outstanding account balance with Burlington Minor Lacrosse will NOT be eligible to play.

Who Can Participate / Why Participate:
  • Anyone may sign-up regardless of experience levels.
  • Players new to the sport of lacrosse may have a learning curve, but it will not be impossible to overcome.
  • Experienced rep players or house league players are welcome.
  • This is a great opportunity to stay involved in the sport, continue to work on skills, or keep skills sharp. This is not a replacement for high-level serious lacrosse.
  • The vibes for fall lacrosse are always a little more relaxed and fun.
  • The weather is often better than Spring Field season and less intense than the Girls Summer Field season.
  • Players from outside Burlington will need to follow OLA rules for participating outside their home centre. Please don't register with us before speaking to your home centre.
