Gamedays:

Gamedays are "tournament style" with many teams gathering at a host center to play twice (or three times for U9) in a day.  The result is a fun tournament atmosphere every week end.

Host centers for 2024 include:  Ajax, Aurora , Brampton, Burlington, Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, London, Oshawa, Peterborough, Toronto, Welland.

Practices:

Indoor tryouts and practices for U13, U15 and U17 will start before March break. Please see the team calendar for specific dates and times.

Outdoor practices will start early April and will be at City View park. BMLA will do everything possible to avoid conflicts between field and box practices during the brief period where the seasons overlap.

Team Composition:

U9

The U9 age group plays half-field 7-on-7, with one goalkeeper, two defenders, two midfielders and two attack on the field. 4x4 nets are used for U9 games.

We expect to have a roster size of 10-15 players in order to effectively field a team.

U11
The U11 age group plays half-field 8-on-8 with one goalkeeper, two defenders, three midfielders and two attack on the field. 6x6 nets are used for U11 games.

We expect to have a roster size of 13-18 players in order to effectively field a team.

U13/U15/U17
These age groups play full-field 10-on-10 with one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three attack on the field.

We expect to have roster sizes of 15-20 in order to effectively field teams.

Tryouts:

The spring field lacrosse season is a "Rep" program.  Information on expectation for tryouts can be seen HERE.

However, the concept of our program being Rep should not scare away new participants. It is recommended new players have some previous lacrosse experience, but field lacrosse experience is not mandatory to start playing with us since the rules and gameplay are easily learned.

The BMLA evaluates a team's talent yearly to ensure they are rated correctly to play equal competition. Additionally, the OMFLL uses the MyLAX Rankings to reseed teams after a few weeks of play in order to rebalance league play.

There are many good reasons to consider playing field lacrosse:

  • Outdoor play in spring weather.
  • Larger playing field emphasizes the ability to find space.
  • As players get older the game emphasizes position specific skills. The result is a position for all players regardless of speed, size or skillset. There is a role for everyone!
