The BMLA is requesting award nominations from our members for our 2025 season.
Members include any registered players & their parents or guardians, coaches, referees & volunteers.For each award, please tell us who are you nominating and give a brief description of why you are making this nomination.
The BMLA board extends sincere thanks to everyone who participated in and helped make 2025 another great lacrosse season!

The awards we are seeking nomination for are:
Pat McCarthy Memorial Award
named after Pat McCarthy who was a coach for the Burlington Minor Lacrosse Association. This award was first established in 1996 and is presented annually to a graduating player (boys rep box U17, boys rep field U17, girls rep box U22, girls rep field U19) who has given back his/her time and commitment to the organization.
Rep Coach of the Year
In determining the recipient, consideration will be given to the following: Contribution to lacrosse in Burlington to both the organization and development of lacrosse. Number of years with the organization. Follow the code of conduct – shows respect for officials, opponents, parents, and Burlington Minor Lacrosse. Presents a positive public image of the association. Development of team and players (coaching effectiveness – not just wins and losses).
House League Coach of the Year
Awarded annually to a House League Coach. In determining the recipient, consideration will be given to the following: Shows respect for officials, opponents, parents and embraces a philosophy of fair play. Shows respect for Burlington Minor Lacrosse Association. Follow the code of conduct – shows respect for officials, opponents, parents, and Burlington Minor Lacrosse. Presents a positive public image of the association. Development of team and players (coaching effectiveness – not just wins and losses.
Geoff Elmer "Love of the Game" Award
This award is named after one of the dedicated volunteers within the Burlington Minor Lacrosse Association. Geoff was a driving force in the development of girl’s field lacrosse. This award was first established in 2005 and is presented annually to a person volunteering their time and energy to promote and develop girl’s lacrosse.
Jordan Moxam Spirit Award
This award is named after a young boy who played lacrosse in the Burlington Minor Lacrosse system. Tragically he passed away of cancer May 2, 2004. This award was first established in 2004 and is presented annually to a U13 (Pee Wee) player (girl or boy) who has played both box and field, and who shows an exceptional desire to play – a love of the game.
John Dack Memorial Award
This award is presented to the volunteer who contributes most to the game of lacrosse in Burlington.
Shannon-Miotto Girls Lacrosse Coaches Award
This award is named in honour of two dedicated volunteers who supported girls lacrosse in many roles over the years including being a part of the board, organizing house league, and being on the bench. Kary Shannon and Debbie Miotto championed the sport and encouraged others to build a life-long love of the sport. This award was established in 2017 and presented annually to a Coach involved in Girls Lacrosse who shows a dedication to the development of players and respect for all those involved in the game.
