BMLA FALL SIXES LACROSSE UPDATE SEPTEMBER 7
Thank you for being trailblazers and registering with us for the first OLA Sixes season. Adjusting to the surprise of this season has been a challenge for us, but we’re doing our best to try and get our teams together and ready. Thank you for being patient! The last-minute change to the season from the OLA has thrown all plans we had for the Fall out the window and we had to completely change our schedule, roster make-up, and in some cases come up with coaching staffs!

Yesterday was the date all teams across the province had to declare teams and we declared teams in the following divisions:

  • ·       U9 – 1x Boys, 1x Girls
  • ·       U11 – 2x Boys, 1x Girls
  • ·       U13 – 1x Boys, 1x Girls
  • ·       U15 – 1x Girls
  • ·       U17 – 1x Girls

Based on registrations to date and the OLA limit of 12 players for a team here are updates for each group.

U9/U11 Boys – We have 36 registrations between these two age groups. To allow all registrants to play, we are going to split this group into three teams of 12. The plan is to have a team of U11 major-aged players, a U11 team mixed with U11 minor-aged players and major-aged U9 players. The remaining U9 players will form a team. Registration for these two age groups is closing and we have no further space.

U13 Boys – We have 12 registrations and so registration for this team is closing since we have no further space.

U9 Girls – We have enough players for a team, with a few extra spots available. There were only two other teams declared in this age group in the province, so we’re unsure at this time what the OLA’s plan is for the U9 Girls.

U11/U13 Girls – We have space on both teams for more registrations. There is a chance, in the absence of more registrations at U11, that these two age groups merge for us, or that the U11 and U9’s combine to allow the U9’s to play. Please be patient while we figure it out and encourage friends to come out and play if they haven’t signed up yet.

U15 / U17 Girls – There were only two other teams declared in the U15 age group in the province. Because of this the OLA has already notified us they intend on merging the U15 and U17 age group. Based on the registrations, we have no concerns on the capability of our team to be able to compete in that mixed age group.

Regarding schedule, we have been severely limited in our capability to schedule games while we wait for the team declarations to be done. Expect to get more plans for games shortly. Don’t worry, we won’t plan games for days / times where we can’t field a team. Expect the schedule to be communicated asap from us, but please bookmark and use this website for the schedule and results: https://www.ontariosixes.com/ . It is unlikely we can update our website with schedules. I would also recommend familiarizing yourself with the game rules so you understand what you are watching!

Thank you again for playing lacrosse with us this Fall. We are very excited to get going!!
