Girl's Field Lacrosse Coming Back
We are RESTARTING Burlington's GIRL'S FIELD PROGRAM

Hello Lacrosse families!

As you know our girls box lacrosse program has grown in the past few years.  We now offer a girls house league (1999-2010), a Girls Learn to Play (2011-2016) and a rep program for Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget aged players. We are also bringing back our mom’s league #LoLAX - no experience needed!  We are in the planning stages for the 2020 season and are excited to let you know about further opportunities for girls lacrosse in Burlington!

You might be familiar with our successful girls box lacrosse program, but did you know the Burlington Minor Lacrosse Association once had a successful girls field lacrosse program?  Between 2003 and 2009 Burlington won girls field lacrosse provincial championships four times!

Based on demand, we are RESTARTING Burlington's girls FIELD PROGRAM in Burlington for the 2020 season with a U11 & U13 team.

We are looking for girls (2008 and younger) who are interested in this exciting opportunity to grow Burlington's field lacrosse program.  Our season will run in parallel, and coordinate seamlessly, with our girls box program.

There are many benefits to considering playing girl's field lacrosse:

  • Different contact rules and stick pockets result in tremendous stick skills transferable to box lacrosse or other sports.

  • Because of the low contact, there is little need for protective equipment and thus the initial investment of equipment is quite low for those that may be new to the sport.

  • As players get older, and continue participation, the game emphasizes position specific skills.  The result is a position for all players regardless of speed, size, or skill set. There is a role for everyone!

  • Game days consist of many teams gathering at a central location to play 2-3 games over a portion of the day.  The result for players and families is a fun tournament atmosphere.

  • As players improve and progress there are many opportunities to play at a higher level:

    • There are several local private lacrosse organizations that travel to the US and play in tournaments.

    • Elite players can try out for the opportunity to play for Team Ontario.

    • Field lacrosse programs are offered at many Canadian universities.

    • Field lacrosse is a more popular version of the game in the US and opportunities exist for players to play at the US university level via scholarship.

    • Field lacrosse is played internationally and is under consideration to be added as an Olympic sport!
